Detoxify

Back to work

Together with Länsförsäkringar Göteborg och Bohuslän, we created Detoxify, a song that helps teens make their social media algorithms kinder.

A green smartphone on green fabric, its social feed split by a diagonal beam of light – one side crowded with face-scanning filters and looks-obsessed clips, the other with kittens, lambs and soft pink clouds.

A fight teenagers were never meant to take alone

Teenagers don’t choose the toxic beauty ideals filling their feeds. Algorithms do. Expecting a lonely, vulnerable teenager to resist that pressure alone is not a fair fight.

With more than a decade of commitment to teen mental health, Länsförsäkringar Göteborg och Bohuslän decided to step in.

Don’t quit social media – hack it

Telling teenagers to delete their apps wouldn’t help. Social media is where their friends, culture, and entertainment live. So we went upstream.

What if we could change the algorithm itself?

The result was Detoxify, a song that uses voice control to interact with social media. Commands woven into the lyrics guide the phone to search for and engage with positive content. A single play is enough to help turn a toxic feed into a kinder one.

The impact

Released on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, the song quickly spread across TikTok and Instagram, right where it needed to live.

Detoxify is a reminder that teens need more than just good advice. They need fairer systems, and sometimes, a way to push back.
